The Power of Showing Up!

Some heroes don’t make noise. They don’t stand at a podium or wear a badge. Sometimes, they simply stay.

Today, we’re especially grateful for Walker.

He doesn’t understand medical terms or rehabilitation goals, but he understands presence. He knows that simply being there can be one of the most powerful forms of support.

And isn’t that something we could all take into this week?

That sometimes, Strength is staying close, even when you don’t know what to say.
Support is silent but steady. And love… often looks like loyalty.

Whether you’re someone who shows up for others, or someone who needed someone to stay, there is strength in both.

Here’s to the Walkers in our lives, and the moments we choose to be one.

What story don’t you see?

You see a smile. You see strength. You see Lauren.
But what you don’t see is the daily fight with challenges that remain invisible, the fatigue, the seizures, the words that sometimes don’t come easily.

Invisible disabilities don’t always announce themselves, but they are just as real. Lauren’s story reminds us to look beyond appearances and remember that Kindness Is Free.

What stories might be hidden behind the faces you see every day?

Book Club Parties

Book Club Parties

Next week is the 4-year anniversary of when Murphys Don’t Quit was published! 🎉 The phrase Murphys Don’t Quit has been part of our lives for a long time, but sharing it through our book has been one of the greatest gifts.

As an author, one of my favorite things is being invited to a book club party. Whether your group gathers in a living room or logs in from across the miles on Zoom, I love celebrating with you. Every discussion brings laughter, encouragement, and connection.

If your club chooses Murphys Don’t Quit for your next read, I’ll join the party and share behind-the-scenes stories about how the book came to be, plus a few fun stories that didn’t make it into the final manuscript. Guaranteed laughs and good conversation!

Order your copy of Murphys Don’t Quit on Amazon and get your group ready for an unforgettable gathering.

Ready to schedule your own book club? Request a visit here and let’s make it happen.

Every book club is unique, and yours might just become one of my favorite stories to share. Choose Murphys Don’t Quit, invite me in, and together we’ll make it a night your group will never forget.

“We didn’t pick this path. We walked it anyway.”

Sometimes life hands us challenges we never asked for. What matters most is how we respond, the choice to keep showing up, keep fighting, and keep walking forward.

One of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned: find your cheerleader, the people who remind you to keep going when you want to give up. None of us were meant to walk these hard roads alone.

If you’re navigating a tough road right now, know this: you are stronger than you think, and the right support can make all the difference.

“Rising from the Fire” Motivational Monday Inspiration

“Rising from the Fire” Motivational Monday Inspiration

“The flames we face can break us down… or they can forge us into something stronger. Rising from the fire is how scars become stories and comebacks inspire others.”

Tag a role model who rose from the fire stronger than ever, and tag another who reminds you what resilience looks like.

When we lift each other up, we rise higher together.

“Learn more about Lauren’s story.”

The Comeback

The Comeback

Today’s Monday Motivation
She doesn’t remember the impact. She’ll never forget the comeback.

People often ask if Lauren’s memory is intact. The short answer is yes. Some things are fuzzy, but for the most part she remembers her past, and trust me, if she comes across an old photo of her sisters wearing one of her outfits, she makes sure they remember it’s hers!

What she doesn’t remember are the days and weeks leading up to the accident, and almost two years after. Her earliest memory is from March 2015. Her accident was April 2013.

Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI’s) are hard. They’re life-changing for the whole family. Her dad, siblings, and I still carry the weight of those years. I’m grateful Lauren doesn’t remember, and sometimes wish I didn’t either. It’s easy to fall into a “why me” mindset. Believe me, this was never on my Bingo Card.

But here’s what I focus on: I’ve had a front-row seat to a living miracle. And while Lauren’s fight is her own, I’ll proudly admit my pushy-mom energy has played a part too. Her sister Erin once put it perfectly: “There are still so many things Lauren can’t do, but there are so many more things that she can.”

Lauren knows her story through my book, through audio, through us constantly reminding her. What she sometimes can’t see is just how extraordinary her comeback really is. That’s where we come in.

Sharing our story has given her back purpose, and given me perspective. The chapters were hard. The memories are heavier than I let on. But the comeback? The comeback is unforgettable.

Because at the end of the day…
She doesn’t remember the impact. She’ll never forget the comeback.

Rainy Monday

Lauren canceled her Monday workout this morning due to her head cold and speaking engagement this afternoon. Normally after a seizure her right hand is extremely weak for a few days. Not only does that make holding a weight difficult but also a blow dryer and flat iron. Lauren has enough hair on her head for half a dozen people so using a flat iron with a weak hand is tough. She decided to take it easy this morning instead of rushing to get ready.

This Monday Motivation video is from last week. Jaime realizes that having Lauren due combos is not only a great workout, but it is also great for her brain. There was a time when remembering what to do next was not possible. We are thankful for so many continued improvements.

2019 goals

Lauren worked hard this morning coming up with an attainable list of goals for the New Year. As always, we are extremely thankful for all the continued love and support. Team Murphy is excited to have a font row seat in watching her strive to meet every single goal this year. She’s got this!

Getting Creative

Lauren works with a fabulous trainer named Willie. He is always finding new and creative ways to keep Lauren motivated. DASA (Disabled Sports Association), partners with Emerge fitness and they are both top notch programs. If anyone is looking for a regular trainer, the people at Emerge are the best and if you know anyone who is disabled and needs a boost, I can’t say enough about DASA!

No Pain, No Gain!

Lauren’s friend and trainer Jaime has been working with her since December of 2014. She has been a huge part of Lauren’s recovery. Jaime often takes video clips during their workouts. Mainly because these  little clips help document her journey. Typically Lauren slows down or stops so Jaime can catch up after filming. Friday she decided to just keep going, Jaime had to sprint to catch up. No pain, no gain!
