Touching Letter From Lauren’s Speech Therapist

Last week was the end of the semester for Lauren’s speech program at Fontbonne University. They had a luncheon on the last day. We were unable to make it because I had a hair appointment….full disclosure, Murphy girls have enough hair on their heads for 12 people, we covet these hair appointments. One of Lauren’s friends used to call her the ‘lion queen’ after seeing her moments after she blow dried her hair. It truly is a sight to see.

I received an email from Lauren’s therapist Madeline with this letter.  She planned on giving it to her at the luncheon. We have been extremely fortunate to have had the privilege to work with such loving, passionate speech therapists.  The picture was taken at the Stampede For Stroke 5K on 10-27.

Dear Lauren,

This semester has been a blast. Where has the time gone? You were my first client who has suffered from a Traumatic Brain Injury and I thank you for teaching me so much. I think one of the most important things you have taught me is the importance of working hard and never giving up because “Murphy’s don’t quit.” I have never met another individual that continues to push herself as much as you do… you are truly inspiring.  All the work you have put in throughout the semester has paid off. You surpassed your goals for this semester which is amazing, congratulations Lauren!! It is sad to think that we will not be working with each other next semester; however, I am confident that you will continue to make progress. I will be cheering from afar and I want to wish you the best of luck. Keep working hard and inspiring others to do the same!!

Best of Luck,

Madeline
